About our Microschool

For the Culture is a secular, inclusive homeschool collective centering BIPOC voices and committed to cultivating a culturally affirming, justice-centered education. Our learning community values critical thinking, curiosity, creativity, and connection. We serve middle and high school students through a flexible model that encourages independent learning while providing meaningful support and collaboration.

Location: San Antonio, TX near Jefferson High School (In-person)
Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays 
Start Date: Mid-August 2026
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

Middle/High School ELA Teacher (Part-Time)

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a passionate, student-centered ELA Teacher to lead engaging middle and high school English Language Arts classes. You’ll be teaching two 90-minute classes each Tuesday and Thursday. We’ll be using the FishTank Learning ELA curriculum as a foundation, which features rigorous, standards-aligned units built around compelling texts and writing tasks. We're excited for you to bring your voice and creativity to how the lessons come to life.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach two 90‑minute Language Arts blocks on Tuesdays and Thursdays

  • Implement the Fishtank Learning curriculum while adapting instruction to meet student needs

  • Create a classroom culture that is inclusive, affirming, and rooted in high expectations

  • Support students in developing strong reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills

  • Collaborate with Microschool leadership to ensure alignment with program goals

  • Maintain clear communication with families in a warm, community-centered manner

  • Integrate texts that reflect diverse perspectives and voices, particularly those of BIPOC authors

  • Provide meaningful feedback on written work and guide students in developing communication and analytical skills

  • Assign weekly homework and help students stay accountable for independent work

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching Language Arts, literacy, or humanities (school, microschool, co-op, or homeschool settings welcome)

  • Commitment to culturally responsive and anti-racist teaching practices

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn the Fishtank Learning curriculum

  • Strong classroom management rooted in respect, relationship-building, and student empowerment

  • Ability to create a joyful, structured, and intellectually rich learning environment

  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working in a small, community-based school setting

  • Commitment to secular, inclusive education

Middle/High School SCIENCE Teacher (Part-Time)

OVERVIEW

We are seeking a passionate Physics Teacher to lead in-person instruction twice a week. The ideal candidate brings curiosity, clarity, and creativity to the study of physics—making complex concepts accessible, hands-on, and relevant to students’ lives.

Our learning environment is rooted in equity, representation, and academic excellence. We are looking for an educator who believes that rigorous STEM instruction is a key part of an anti-racist, student-centered classroom.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach two 90‑minute Physics blocks on Tuesdays and Thursdays

  • Deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons that build strong conceptual understanding

  • Incorporate real-world applications, hands-on activities, and culturally relevant examples

  • Support students in developing scientific reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

  • Collaborate with Microschool leadership to ensure alignment with program goals

  • Maintain warm, clear communication with families and students

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience teaching Physics, Physical Science, or related STEM subjects

  • Commitment to culturally responsive and anti-racist teaching practices

  • Ability to design or adapt lessons for a small, mixed-level classroom

  • Strong classroom management rooted in relationship-building and student empowerment

  • Comfortable working in a small, community-based school setting

  • Reliable, punctual, and passionate about STEM education

  • Commitment to secular, inclusive education
